One is a best seller for a good reason and is inspiring, and the other is fairly pedantic and at times, cute.
One of the problems facing potential artists is that almost everybody (85%) wants to be an artist and yet few go to art school where they attempt not to learn the secret of becoming an artist (finishing what you start), but how to act like an “artist” and avoid the work.
There is one truth to becoming an artist however, and many miss it: one has to know a lot about a lot and still be able to focus on solving a problem and know when to drop it for not working like you want. Knowing when to ‘move on’ is a key component to making better art. If it doesn’t work, start again.
