Re: printing issue

That’s actually not true. Epson got taken to court and lost due to the Moss-Magnuson Act of 1953, which prevents manufacturers from forcing consumers to buy their supplies. It was written to allow GM consumers to buy tires not made by GM.

I'd LOVE to know about it. Using non Epson ink will void the warranty, I know, but I'm out of warranty anyway.

My biggest question would be does it band or glob EVER? If so, I'm out.

Lea and other.   There is an ink I have been using for my epson 3800 that is half the price.   of Epson and seems to be super super stable and accurate.   Lea if I ever get to see my studio again. (stuck in hollyweird for a few months) I can do a sample print and send it to you so you can see if that color are right for you.   If you print a lot it would save you tones of money.   The link is also in my studio on the east coast though so i would have to ask tomoko to get the link if you are interested in pursuing that

I don't know because I bought the RIP at the same time I bought the printer. What I can say is that I've been very, very pleased with the RIP. The available library of profiles is huge and the customer service is crazy great.

My printing headaches subsided when I bought this combo.

That said, had I known back then (five or so years ago) that I was going to lock on to one specific paper, I might have saved myself a bunch of money and just had a custom printer profile done. I have used many papers through the years, though, and each of them is headache-free. Punch up the profile and print. It's really that easy.

Hmmm.

Got so frustrated I shut the whole thing down (computer and printer) for two hours and worked on something else.

Fired everything back up and voila…it's all working as it should.

No idea why that would matter but I'm good with it.

Thanks for the input, it is appreciated.

Epson 3800

full or nearly full ink cartridges per the readout on the front panel

printing the same way on the same media I've used for the last 5 years

images appear 'solarized' for lack of a better term

nozzle clean has been done…several times

nozzle print check shows all is well

running the printer using ImagePrint (same settings as always…double and triple checked them)

Anyone know where else I can look to solve this tedious problem?

Many thanks.
