Neccesity is the mother.... Weddings are on my list too... And so are mines. Been there and done that... High school portraits are out because the subject matter is so confused and uptight and my patience aint what it was... Landscapes are beyond reach due to two messed up legs... Actually if I really had a choice, I'd sell my gear and play music for next to nothig (The going rate) Instead, shots of beer, tequila brandy and other bottles/cocktails/beverages are currently helping me to eat... I shoot many many luxury handbags and other stuff that would be junk if it didn't have LV or Prada or Chanel embossed on it.... It's a living and people who dream of working in this business are ill-informed. -original message- Subject: Re: Anything but that! From: Jan Faul <jan@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 04/09/2013 16:36 Yeah, lots. Weddings are on the list, but not at the top. My worst are: coal mines where I am up to my ass in cold water Firefights where invisible things are flying. Hospitals where people are dying but don’t know it. I sent 90 nights in a hospital fairly recently and out it I have a couple of shots of docs and some gruesome shots of my left foot I will never show anybody. As for nudes? I wish I could find a good painters model whose primary reason for posing wasn’t to “own me or stone me”. Great models do not grow on trees and one has to have rapport or a connection. Without that, it’s not gonna happen. I never want to see another beer or Coke bottle within 100 feet of my camera either. Now they make me gag. I think I have expressed here that I don't like weddings and I have tried nudes with frustrating results. I fear heights with panic, on spite of doing photos aboard cargo ships (having to climb up and down the cranes or into the hold - never got used t it), so going up the Empire State Building for a change of air-traffic light bulb is out of the question (Joe McNally anyone?). > > I didn't take pictures during my dad's passing because I feared my family would react negatively, This is something I wanted to do, but I could not, and I regret it for the story and the memories. I guess I feared my family would react negatively. As it turned out later, one of my brothers did take some pictures, which he keeps as personal (he used my old Sony F717, which is extremely silent). > > Other than that, I am always interested in stories, so "I think" I could photograph about anything. > > Is there any photo, or any kind of photography that you would/could NOT do? > > > **************** > Alberto Tirado > > > Art Faul The Artist Formerly Known as Prints ------ Stills That Move: http://www.artfaul.com Greens: http://www.inkjetprince.com Camera Works - The Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/photo/battlefieldparks/front_qt.htm ArtNet: http://www.artnet.com/artists/jan+w.-faul/ art for cars: panowraps.com .
