It's not ideal, but I find it usable (and this is for presentation on the web, not at a big conference with a tech budget). I agree - it's better than nothing. It's actually fine for the film equivalent of "record shots" (remeber that phrase?). The auto focus it the biggest killer for anything other than either "talking head to camera" or "group wide shot". But I still might upgrade the SLR. 6D or 5D Mk II? Mmmm ...
