Actually a spinner. I think the spider is too hot and I wish the
angle on her made her more immediately recognizably spidery. But
this situation is pretty tricky to shoot.
actually, it's a Cross Orb Weaver like I said, aka European
Garden spider, Diadem spider, Cross spider...looks pretty spidery to
me...here's an interesting video of the little critter at work (
invoke the video Master Spinner Spiders, a master class in
silk-spinning from the garden orb spider)-

thanks for your input on the shot

a tad ambiguous...personally, I thought there was just enough
of the web to give a sense of place...

Great capture of the spider, although I do wish it was performing
some more recognizable action. The inconsistent web background, in
my opinion, doesn't compliment the sharpness of the spider. I can't
imagine this being easy to do, given the narrow dof of the capture.
you're right about it not being easy to do...it took a lot of
hand held shots with and without flash to get this image but I think
it was worth it...it illumes an activity seldom seen or even
noticed...

I think the overall quality of the images in this week's gallery is
better, except for the police shot.
hmmm...basically a non-revue here...Jan goes on to talk about
Dan's lighthouse shot and his own contribution and no one elses...I
guess being lumped into the "better" category is better than no
comment at all...
my thanks to all who took the time to provide some input...deeply appreciated
