Just a few comments on the members gallery for 08/11/12:

Elson T. Elizaga - Extraordinary Claims - A young boy with a skeptical (quizzical?) expression on his face, with a Carl Sagan quote below him. As a scientist I had to comment on this picture. It would be a real accomplishment if we could teach children to ask questions and not take everything at face value, and at the same time we as adults should be willing to try to address their questions. Anyway, back to the photograph. I like the overall composition and the catch lights are well done. However, I feel that a little judicious cropping is in order to bring more of Diego's body into the picture. As it is, my eyes are drawn to the space below his right armpit. Other than that I like the overall effect.

John Palcewski - Dogs - A photograph of a woman walking two dogs. I like the overall dynamic feel of this picture. The dogs straining at their leashes and the woman trying to keep pace. However, my eyes are drawn to the woman's red shirt and not so much to the dogs. The cropping of the woman's left leg also takes away from the composition.

Scott Thurmond - Needs work - Old, decrepit Cadillac - Thanks for your comments Andrew. It is a bit flat, but I was going for documentation primarily.

Bob McCulloch - Daisies - A photograph of two daisies - I actually like this shot, although it should have been cropped to remove the out of focus sections and to bring the two flowers into the center as the main focus.

Dan Mitchell - Cathedral - A picture of an English cathedral taken with a cell phone. I'm impressed with the overall quality of the photograph since it was taken with a cell; however, I'm not excited about the photograph itself.

Yoram Gelman - Bark Gargoyle - A photograph of a tree knot shaped like a gargoyle. Nice back story, it helps me see what you saw. However, the "gargoyle" itself is difficult to visualize, maybe a little fill lighting would have helped.

Especially keeping them near 100Kb in maximum size. Please take an extra minute to abide by this request but if you have doubts about how to prepare images just send them anyway and the capable gallery staff will adjust them for exhibition.
