If quality of construction is important the the iPhone is clearly the better, (less plasticky), and the most expensive - alas it has neither a removable battery or can it use a micro-SD card. The Samsung's battery is easily user replaceable, and you can extend the built-in memory with a micro-SD card. Both have cameras with sensors of around 8 M/pixels for stills, and both will do video - I use both with good results. The iPhone uses Apple's own iOS operating system, used nowhere else, while the Samsung uses the Android OS from Google. I could go on at length, but these are the basics. Lately I have been using the Samsung more, simply because I like to be able to carry spare, charged, batteries, and put my photographic efforts on to the micro-SD cards.
