RE: Lightroom should be coming today

Yea I was that way too, especially after I tried their beta which was down right AWFUL!!!  It took forever to load.  Thought at first is was my hardware, but then I found other people were have it take 20 mins or more to open a library.  I was assured that was fixed before the final version was released.

The main reason I got lightroom is that its non destructive.  Instead of having to save a full size file for every alteration of the image you do,  imagexyz-1 imagexyz-2 Lightroom saves a set on instructions on what to do with the original file.  You archive the one file, and then a set of instructions maybe with a crop, a conversion to black and white, a lighting effect, a toning effect and maybe some other type of manipulation.  Yes I have forgotten to ad the save as and give the file a new name and lost the original.  Fortunately it wasn't a big deal.  As files get bigger and volumes go up archiving becomes more of an issue.

When lightroom came out, Bridge was pathetically slow.  I didn't do enough of a volume then that I couldn't tolerate it, even though it ticked me off then too.  Bridge now is better and when I got CS5 I was relatively happy too with it, but I will see how it work.  Many swear by Lightroom.  Me personally I am usually swearing at Adobe.  Sorry mom.  Funny thing is one day Adobe will wake up and sing the old song.  "Where have all the buyers gone?  Long time passing.  Where have all the buyers gone?  Long time ago."

One thing is for sure.  Company's with poor customer service sooner or later end up bankrupt.  Fact number two, there is always a new gold standard and sooner or later there will be another option that's better.

Still happily using PS. See no reason to use Lightroom if you master
the RAW converter.
