Lots of comment activity this week...thanks! Thanks for the comments on
the lighting, it is one of the elements of this image that stand out for
me. Also, a big thank you for those with the cropping suggestions. It
was actually already cropped a fair bit, but I agree it could be more
so...I really like the square format idea and will check it out in LR
shortly. I guess I liked the background so much that I tried to leave
too much of it in. It's interesting to see the difference of
interpretation in the emotions of the subjects. I have another with both
of them laughing.

Excellent Rembrandt lighting and interesting contrast between grumpy
grandpa and the innocent child. For me, a crop to square format would
work a little better. Great shot for the family mantle.

The resemblance between the two is amazing. A lower crop from the top
might be nice. Love the lighting.

There is great love in the grandfather's eyes and a bit of uncertainty
in the eyes of the child. It is a wonderful moment captured well. I
love the way the light falls on both of them.

Beautiful, traditional Rembrandt lighting - wish I could do that
reliably <sigh> - there is sadness here perhaps grandpa is wishing his
grandson
goodbye after a too-short visit.

grandfather: I like this. The connection between the grandfather and
grandchild is evident. The lighting is well done. If it were mine,
I’d crop a little from the top of the photograph. The space is a
little distracting. In fact, I think I’d crop it quite close to the
subjects to increase the intimate feeling of the photograph. Well done.
