I had another try and found it needs XP professional.

Thank you. I went to the MS website and I see that they are to cease support for XP SP2 on the 13 July this year and advise using SP3. So I will not be uninstalling.

 

On Monday I will ring MS (UK) to see what they say.

 

I think it because SETUP.exe is a Win 16 application as the other win 16 applications will not run either. These are applications desig like Windows 3. My Corel draw version 3 won’t load either. 

 

 

Ah sorry, I mistook 'load' for run rather than install. The fix for this is annoyingly complicated - could I suggest that if you have an older operating system such as NT or win98SE you would probably be happier installing one of those under XP using Vrtual PC, a freeware Microsoft product which can be found here:

 

though the current version seems only applicable for Win7:
