I have 2 PCs Iuse for processing and personal finance that are off the net.  They are connected to the net once a month for updates only.  The operating system (and other software) is on separate drives from the data.  Data drives are disconnected when the PCs are connected to the internet for updates.  It's a pain in the ***, but it is secure.
