this might help somewhat David, http://www.whatismyip.com/ will tell you
your IP address .. and you can see in the headers of the other messages that
they're very likely not originating from your machine
which suggests your email address is being spoofed

This isn't hard, there's a lot of simple programs that make masking
addresses easy - you can even use irfanview to spoof emails as it has an
ibuilt smtp mailer.
What i'd suggest if this goes on and becomes too difficult is to maybe stop
using AOL as your main mail program and switch to a new, clean address
(gmail maybe) .. notify the people in your address book of the change then
close down or suspend the AOL one
