For both the Canon and the Nikon, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 should not be overlooked, it sounds like. The reviews I've seen definitely place it ahead of the new Nikon 50/1.4 AF-S, and it's a lot cheaper than the Canon 50/1.2.
