Yes, David. We do understand. We've discussed it endlessly.
But face it. Many of us are interested in getting to the print, and
have developed ways of thinking about our files that get to the
print. These do not include 1ppi because we tend to think of the
final size of the print and how many spittles of ink we want to
achieve the sharpness we desire.
Endlessly reiterating that a file that's 300 inches wide by 1ppi is
the same as a file that's 1 inch wide by 300 ppi is really pointless
for us print-oriented types.
We think in terms of printing. People want to know what's useful for
the web so printing becomes a lot more difficult. That's half the
point of protecting ones IP from pilfering off the web.
So we talk about it in terms of printing.
