I never upload anything bigger than 4x6x96 dpi to any online site.
Make sure you overlay a copyright indicator of some kind on the
images you upload.
Flickr does have a reputation of being a go-to place for people
looking for good images to use and has been the source of some usages
which should have paid well.
Users generally do not bother to respect creators, so making the
unlicensed usage more difficult with some sort of incorporated
warning in the image file is a hindrance, but not guaranteed to stop
the thief.
Better than nothing.
