material and photographic technique. If even one of his students has been
enthused to work commercially and has the stamina and resources to carry this
into a successful career his time will have been well spent. For the rest they
now have the tools to record aspects of their own lives for their personal
enjoyment and as a means of communicating with their relatives should their
careers take them abroad. I wish someone had given me the opportunity and
privilege they have enjoyed whilst working under Herschel Mair's
direction.
