for two BIG reasons...

you cannot easily have a flashlights that is Totally perfectly regulated...that means totally flat runtime...though Quality Protected rechargable 16340 Li-ions help in that

AND No matter how good the flashlight there is NO manufacturer that will guarantee a particluar tint (LED Color)....It is called bining, where each batch made is tested and sorted for colpr and output...then is put in a cattegory..BUT withing each category there is a variance
then comes the tint shift if the flashlight is current regulated (not PWM)..changes to lower outputs....

too many variables....I would stick with a homemade regulator...FLAT

Well after some thought the LEDs seem to be the way to go, but using the
KISS principle why not just use an LED flashlight???
