A few days ago I was sitting in the smoking lounge of De La Concha, a high-end cigar and pipe emporium on New York's Sixth Avenue.

John Catsimatidis, the billionaire owner and CEO of the Red Apple Group and Gristedes Foods, was at an adjoining table, with two of his long-time friends and associates.

I overheard him saying,  "I never believed my business would change as much as it has," he said.

Well, who among us could have forseen what would eventually happen to the photography business?

If that's what it can be called anymore.

And, even more interesting, as a sign of the change, many of the wedding
photographers were NOT what once would have been regarded as
professional.  They are folks without backgrounds in film who can shoot
and process digitally simply because it is possible.  I know because
I've asked them.  :-)
