Alberto, you opened up a lot of topics! I think journalism is a collaborative process by several skilled people - picture editor, writer, and photographer to write and illustrate a story. Journalist/artists like Salgado or W.E. Smith are no exception to that. For sure these rare types are hired as illustrators for their style, and sensitive POV. Color images contain too much, often contradictory, information. BW is much easier to edit. Color film is easily converted to BW and lack of BW films has no consequences for journalism. Taking that further - PS plug-ins can make fake TX or other “looks” for artistic effects. I won’t argue that the fake TX probably won’t satisfy - maybe even horrify - true TX believers!
