> Documentary type photographs are usually more dramatic ... Yers, exactly. I didn't want to go too far on my initial comment, but I read a while ago that after 9/11 many people re-assessed their role in life and turned to art, I guess to escape some sort of stark reality that slapped them in the face. Maybe this recession will bring more of this. Some media already mentioned a need of "return to basics" regarding human values - a need to do away with "materialism" (when I think they really meant "consumerism", but heck). And all this to say, back in the good old days, we had W. Eugene Smith and a host others to document life (no pun intended), and they used BW not only because - probably - it was available or that they had learned such, but because it shows character better... Lastingly. There are writers who for their lives cannot understand why would anyone submit BW photos, when "the world is in color". Ultimately, they say, turning a color photo into BW can be decided by the editor (which speakes volumes of creative freedom, but that would be another subject altogether). Well, if the new media trend is going to be human struggle, then then the world may also turn meaningful, artful and BW. > Bob LOL, is this the reason for "A. N. Other"? ********************** www.alberto-tirado.com
