If the CMYK conversion is being left to be handled by the printer, then no, it's not an issue. If one was doing the CMYK conversion, then knowing the paper helps, though not as much as more detailed information. However, if she's not familiar with doing the CMYK conversion then it's much the best to let the printers do it, since if they don't generally do a competent job they wouldn't stay in business.
