not to point out the obvious, but nyquist limits and resolving power work against digital too ;)

there may be 6,12 or 24 Mp on the sensor, but the resolving power (resolution of sorts) is also less than the Mp count

4x5 worth of area covered at 40 -60 lpi resolution is a lot of data!
