We are writing on behalf of Loyola University New Orleans, a progressive Jesuit university. The University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the School Mass Communication. The School of Mass Communication is the largest undergraduate major at Loyola University New Orleans, with almost 250 undergraduate majors and 19 undergraduate minors enrolled in the various programs. The School is committed to educating competent communication professionals who exemplify the finest qualities of a liberal arts education in the Jesuit tradition. In 2008, The Princeton Review cited Loyola in its annual list of the Best 368 Colleges. Loyola's College ofSocial Sciences was named one of the Great Schools for Communications Majors and Great Schools for Journalism Majors. The School of Mass Communication has nine full- time faculty members and concentration sequences in Advertising, Journalism and Public Relations.

An earned doctorate in an appropriate area represented by one of the School’s programs is preferred, or a distinguished record of professional achievement. College teaching experience, ability to qualify for tenure at the professor level, administrative experience demonstrating excellent supervisory skills, and understanding of and appreciation for the Jesuit Mission are required. Professional experience in any of the School’s program areas is preferred.
