For "scanning" a multitude of negatives and prints, it goes considerably faster using a digital slr and a bellows w/enlarging lens.

You can use a copy stand setup for the prints, and an old contact print box for the negatives.

Here is an example of a 35mm negative copied with a Leica R digital back and an enlarger lens.

This way one does not have to invest is a scanner for a single use project, only a bellows and enlarging lens. In a pinch, you can use a macro lens or a 35mm lens for copying the prints.
