Sorry the weather was so dreary, but it's neat to see such good
humored participants. Were you wearing waders?
Christopher Strevens - National Trust
With digital capture you have a couple of choices here - either
choose an exposure that salvages the highlights, or shoot two shots
(one for the shadows and one for the highlights) and combine them in
Photoshop. Go back and try again.
Valery Firsov - Knight
Ah. Love the anachronisms here! Nice physical posture and even
exposure, great job on keeping the tonalities in the hair, too.
D.L. Shipman - Edge of my clearing
Is that infrared or oversharpening? I kinda like it.
Emily L. Ferguson - Niagara Falls III
I like the graphic aspect and of course nothing is still there.
Don Roberts - Black Canyon of the Gunnison
A great example of why I hated being stuck with film. Once the
whites are blown it there's no hope. Aside from that, I wonder what
is going on on the left side. Is that part of the cascade? If so,
would a slightly slower exposure speed have made that clearer? Very
difficult situation.
Jim Snarski - Nene
Pretty posture but wish it had feet. Very hard to get sharp - all
those muscles moving - but would be nicer if it had been.
Pini Vollach - Boat & Duck
I'd take just the duck. Neat reflection behind it and if you got the
yellow and red colored stuff out of the reflection it would be a very
delicate and beautiful monochrome almost. Nice conoe, too, but the
image would be best without it at all.
as always - thanks to Andy and his crew who pull this off. If you
haven't sent in a file yet, get to it, guys!
