it sounds less than believable because it sounds like something chris wrote

Why do I find this "eye-witness" account less than believable?

An airplane "broke up in the air" and "passengers ran out" when the fuselage hit the ground? How high was that plane when it "broke up?"

A [presumably escaping] passenger takes time to stop and light up a cigarette igniting a fireball that catches the running passengers?

Survivors shot by police thinking they were terrorists? [Must be the ones that got away from the fireball.] Where did the police come from so quickly? Use of lethal force was thought to be necessary for unarmed people running away from a crash site?

I do hope there is some corroborating evidence, such as a reference to a newspaper article from a reputable source. From where I sit, this account makes NO sense at all.

If this were a true account, it should have made international headlines. (Googling "airline crash survivor shot" didn't turn up anything.)

Still, it is an entertaining yarn. Perhaps the author should consider a writing career with the National Enquirer.

It reminds me of an air crash I witnessed. The plane broke up in the air and when the fuselage hit the ground it burst open, passengers ran out but were caught in a fireball as the escaping fuel ignited when a passenger lit a cigarette. The survivors were shot by the police who thought they were terrorists.
