No, not at all.  I don't know of any cases of such abuse personally here in the USA.  I've read about a few, but none of them were where I could effectively do anything about it.  Were it to happen to me or someone I knew, or even in my general area, I could contact my local police department (or whoever the offender was), my local, state or federal officials.  I could write letters to the editor of local papers.  Unfortunately I can't do much about the situation in the UK, even though I was born there, as I'm not a citizen and live thousands of miles away.  People who do live there and are concerned about their rights should raise hell.  Stage rallies.  Organize a photo flash mob at the location of the violation--show up en masse with cameras in hand.  Do what's necessary to raise awareness.  Have bad laws repealed.  Have abusers of power brought to justice.  Awareness and education are the keys.

You’re inferring that this kind of restriction on liberties couldn’t happen where you live right??
Where DO you live?

I didn't discuss it because it was about the 3rd time I had seen reference to the story. As I don't live in England there's not a whole lot I can do about the treatment of photographers there. However, if I get a chance to visit I'll keep in mind what my rights are there, as well as what I might expect should I ever be questioned about practicing the innocent act of photographing.

Back in early March I posted this spoof in a couple places:

It's challenging to deal with human nature.
