Re: Epson 3800

I have the 3800 in service, and it is an excellent printer. The color gamut of the K3 inks is just amazing. So is b/w. I ordered (and use) 17x22 paper from Red River and Crane (Museo Silver Rag, at 350gsm), for which there are specific profiles.

As a web resource, I recommend Eric Chan's 3800 Printer Notes. It's the most extensive compilation of knowledge on the 3800 in a user's hands out there. URL http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/index.html ; you can print up to 35" long with the 3800 (which does not have a roll feeder).

To really administer and finetune the print process, you may look at Qimage, a software which is extremely feature rich and (echoing what a lot of people say about it) the best tool for printing, bar none. I use it exclusively for the 3800, with excellent results.

Thomas

At a deep post-holiday discount, I bought an Epson 3800.  Now that I have the beast, I wonder if any of you have experience with it.  Especially I'd like to know about problems with non-Epson papers and other media.  Also, if you've discovered any "undocumented features" such as printing on papers longer than 22", please share them.

Thanks,

Bill
