Photography/Digital Imaging Instructor (secondary emphasis on Web Design) to
begin August 2007.

Description: Full-time, one-year fellowship appointment (with expectations that
the position will become permanent in the second year) to teach digital
photography in a portfolio and outcome-based commercial program. Preferred
applicant will have experience in commercial work environments, expertise in
Adobe Photoshop, as well as experience teaching at the college level. In
addition, preferred candidate will also have experience with web development and
digital video production, teaching classes using Dreamweaver and Flash.
Minumum degree for consideration is BFA, with preference given to those with
professional experience, college-level teaching experience, and MFA in area of
expertise. Typical teaching load is 20-24 contact hours a week (some may be
repeats of the same class at different times or days), and eight office hours.
However, as a community college with an emphasis on commercial work, no research
or publishing is expected, and all instructors are encouraged to pursue
professional work outside of their teaching assignments (there are several
metropolitan markets close by).
Salary is lower forties, depending on experience and expertise, for a nine-month
contract. Summer contracts are optional, at instructor’s request : this position
has the option for a full- or part-time summer contract, based on 33% of the
nine-month contract. Ivy Tech Community College also offers a generous
retirement contribution above and beyond the contract.
