there is talk about a laser based projection system for the future - this
could easily render contrast ratios as high or even much higher than
projection techniques for slides.  There need be no limitation on the
dimensions or pixel size of such a system either .. so a 600x800 pixel
image could be rendered a foot across or 6 feet across with no loss of
light, and a 20,000 x 40,000 pixel image could be projected at 6 feet
across or 100 feet across - also with the same light levels :)

they've got to get the cost of a blue laser down a lot first -  Maybe the
halving crystals they use to create green lasers will be the way to go, who
knows.

I'd guessed driving the lasers will be done with voice coils shifting
mirrors - my attempts on two axis just made pretty patterns though :(
Thinking more, they'll probably aim for something like spinning prisms as
in a laser printers


One thing is for sure, they should be light and small
