Photography Salon Workshop with
Chloe Atkins

Mondays • 7–9pm
February 26; March 5, 12 &19
$160 ($150 for Intersection Members)

 

 

 

This workshop, taught by acclaimed photographer Chloe Atkins, is for photographers looking for community and creative stimulation. Participants will explore the power of the photograph as document, self-portraiture, fiction and non-fiction, and present their work salon-style to an audience on the final night. Digital or film photography.

All levels welcome.

The Intersection Institute provides year-round opportunities for people to engage in an interactive exploration of the complete process of creating new art from conception to fruition. The program includes classes, workshops, forums and performances that combine unique social and aesthetic content with interdisciplinary artistic elements.

Our educational programs are suitable for all ages and are available to educators, students, community groups, artists and non-artists with all levels of skill and experience.

Poetry Writing Workshop with George Evans & Daisy Zamora
Tuesday, March 27 •
2–5pm
$60 ($55 for Intersection Members)

Addressing the linguistic diversity of
San Francisco, Nicaraguan poet Daisy Zamora and SF poet George Evans will conduct a two part poetry writing workshop for both the English and bilingual Spanish speaking community. The first session will be bilingual, and the second will be in English and will include reading, writing, and discussion of work generated during the workshop.
All levels welcome.

 

 

 

 

Creating Story Through Beatboxing with Tommy Shepherd
Saturdays •
12–2pm
March 31, April 7, 14 & 21
$160 ($150 for Intersection Members)

Learn how to create worlds through sound. Participants will compose atmospheres, invoke emotion and tell a story with beats, rhythms, melodies and resonance. This workshop will concentrate on a variety of beatboxing styles and sound effects as well as basic acting and movement technique culminating in a performance.

Performance Poetry with James Kass
Tuesdays •
6:30–9pm
April 10, 17, 24; May 8 & 15
$180 ($170 for Intersection Members)

Explore the intricacies and potentiality of your individual voice and presence through poetry and performance, with award-winning writer and Founder of Youth Speaks, James Kass. Through writing and performance exercise, we will examine what makes you the writer you are and want to be.

Campo Santo Acting Workshop with Margo Hall
Mondays •
6:30–9:30pm
April 16, 23, 30; May 7 & 14
$195 ($185 for Intersection Members)

This five-week workshop led by award-winning writer, actor and director Margo Hall, will focus on text, scene work, and basic acting techniques with an emphasis and goal of actors reaching full emotional potential and confidence in the audition and rehearsal process.
