Cherries in Spring: A very well done photograph. The depth of field works nicely - a blurred background and the flowers nice and sharp. Beautiful colors (I think nature helped with that {:->). The composition is very good. A photograph that should grace the cover of Sunset Magazine. D.L. Shipman
Marie Selby Gardens, Sarasota, 2007: I like the black background very much. The photograph has a graceful, enchanting feel to it. The delicacy of the petals give the flower a "see-through" quality. Beautiful. Guy Glorieux
Colors of Fall: The red fire hydrant works perfectly within the "Colors of Fall" theme. This photograph took some thought and imagination. It has a comical touch to it, too. Very well done. Laurenz Bobke
Experiment at a Christmas Dinner: I like the fact that the candle and flame are off center. This gives the photograph an edgier feel (for lack of a better term). The exposure must have been difficult. Very inventive - using a salt shaker top as a pin hole. Nice shot. Jeff Spirer
Smoker: This photograph has a film noir feel to it. It could have been taken in the early 60s and I can see the girl's boy friend walking through the fog, in front of two New York cops, going to jail in handcuffs. She's wondering how she can get hold of the brief case that has all the stolen money in it. Her plane ticket to Rio is in her sweater pocket. Christopher Strevens
Mum, 94, on Christmas eve: 2006: I like this photograph and studied it for a long time. It tells a story about the woman. I'd love to hear all about her experiences of 94 years and what she thinks about the world as it is today. I always hear that, ". . . our children are our most valuable treasures" (that's paraphrased - I can't remember the exact quotation), but I think our long-lived citizens are more so. They can look back over the years and tell us if they see patterns in happenings and how they compare yesterday with today. I think their stories are the real treasures. An enjoyable gallery this week. Thank you to
all who contributed.
