In vacuum, all colours travel at the same speed. Any kind of matter
slows them down to some extent, depending on what kind of matter it
is (that´s why glass lenses work, but that´s a long story that Andy
would tell much better...). And it slows different colours to
varying extent (that´s why a prism gives a spectrum, and that´s why
our lenses are blessed with chromatic aberrations).
So, in theory we should be able to use VERY fast shutters instead of
coloured filters...... ;-)
