Well, sure. Of course. There's a lot of stuff going on while
they're sitting on the shutter release. Panning and zooming at the
same time is definitely part of it - a set of skills that requires
practice to pull off for someone who's accustomed to searching out a
perfect image and then figuring out how to capture it best and then
finally getting to actually releasing the shutter.
Try it. Go to your local ball field next spring when the Little
League is out practicing or playing. Or try the local high school
hockey or lacross game.
Jsut a different set of skills, but you gotta know the game.
