My current favourite is JRSharpen, a free Photoshop action that can be found here:

It is one of those that finds the "edges" within the image and selects these, then applies rather aggresive sharpening to them without touching the smoother areas. Works quite well, esp. for portraits. Similar ones (also free) are Deadman´s Sharpeners, which can be found here:

Whichever you try, do click the appropriate box in the PS Actions palette, so you get to choose the parameters for each image instead of just using the presets.
