The Answer is yes, but really so what? Sony only wanted some the technology to ad to it's stable.
They may do a few years of product runs, but it will not enter the pro market and probably could not compete any way. Sony is great at getting its tech stuff that way.
 
Sony will take the market in a new direction dominate for a short time and then move on to the next big thing. They won't be in the (pro) photo market at all and pronbably won't get into the advanced am world either. So that leaves the P&S market, which they are a big hitter.
