It is totally possible that the newer equipment is capable
of identifying the different RAW file modes and printing from them, I have no
idea about that, I do know that my pro lab will not even touch a RAW file,
that is the only real world experience that I have, I have never taken any
files to Costco to be printed so I have no idea how sophisticated their
equipment is, a test you could do is just take a RAW file, that is one that
you know is RAW put it on a memory card and go have it printed, that would
tell you.

I've been printing straight from my memory
card's RAW files here at home. Why couldn't a lab do that, also?
It could be my camera is capturing JPEG files at the same time and I am
unaware of that. I'm so new to digital photography it could be
anything.
