It is totally possible that the newer equipment is capable of identifying the different RAW file modes and printing from them, I have no idea about that, I do know that my pro lab will not even touch a RAW file, that is the only real world experience that I have, I have never taken any files to Costco to be printed so I have no idea how sophisticated their equipment is, a test you could do is just take a RAW file, that is one that you know is RAW put it on a memory card and go have it printed, that would tell you.

I've been printing straight from my memory card's RAW files here at home.  Why couldn't a lab do that, also?  It could be my camera is capturing JPEG files at the same time and I am unaware of that.   I'm so new to digital photography it could be anything.
