You can always shoot in JPEG if you want to get the pix printed from
the card. I wouldn't do that because I have too many variables in
the situations I shoot to have that kind of ready-to-print files.
If you're opening your RAWs in PS and clicking on Auto, you're
missing out on a lot of adjustments you might like to take advantage
of. RAW is a very capable refining converter of many elements of a
photograph. I routinely use the Contrast and Saturation, and the
Detail tab for sharpening.
You might try fiddling with all those sliders in the RAW converter
before clicking on Auto.
