it certainly seemed to be designed as an 'experience' as much as an
exhibition of Seths work.  I felt that whle this seemed to me a well
constructed flash presentation, I'd have preferred the option of viewing
these lovely pictures in a simpler, less interactive manner.

I think the viewer should always have the option of chosing.
Most of us presumably have a high-speed connection.
But plenty of people don't and that, in itself, would justify the courtesy of always offering a choice to the viewer.
That said, it didn't really bother me to wait a little.
There are plenty of other occasions where my computer tests the limits of my patience... -:)
