EW was one of the first perfectionists in photography. But, what is often
forgotten is that those materials were made to offer a long grey scale, and
the prints mostly silver chloride based. He used a pyro formula and an
amidol developer.
The pepper series was a study in light and form. Because of the war, access
to the now famous Pt. Lobos Reserve was closed, so obsessed with photography
as he was, he began doing lots of 'table top' pictures. All between his
portrait business.

Elson,
I am astonished by your comment. If you are seriously interested in
photography look at a lot of it and read what is being said about it. I
just saw a magnificent Weston exhibit and even after decades of seeing
his prints (the real prints) I was deeply moved by there clarity of
intent and perfection. Perhaps because he is one of the most imitated
photographers along with Adams his work may not seem special to you.
I am not bashing Elson,

I'm glad you wrote that, Karen. I'm also puzzled about the interest
given to Weston's pepper. But then I'm not formally educated in
photography.
