Failsafe? Says who? I do not know the company and I do not know any users. Therefore, I really should not comment because so far, they are apparently failsafe. Next week... next year? Well, only time will tell. All I see are potential problems; I always see potential problems with most everything I see these days. My personal burden, I suppose.

The rates are high. How they compare to others, I do not know. What I do know is I am a constant and they are a variable. For the moist part, my images are safe. Barring fires, cyclones, elves, and bad runs of luck. The off-site plans might be good and safe and reliable, but they are NOT under my complete control. You are depending upon a site you are probably not all that familiar with to protect something that is likely irreplaceable.

My data is as safe as it can be, without making backups to three or four or more different storage media.

What happens if they go out of business? Suppose you were faced with transferring 100 gigs of data because one day you receive notice that the service will be discontinued, you have a few days to relocate your stuff. Will it happen? Likely not. Can it happen, Yes, it can. What if they double their storage costs? What if they are hit by a destructive virus? What if they are sloppy and they fail to do this or that?

I am not saying not to use these services, just think about the potential downside. In most cases, I am banned from using any off site storage scheme and in many cases, my work included images and graphics I must create. I simply backup the files to my HDD and in some cases, to a CD. I feel confident.
