Call for Contributors for the Encyclopedia of 19th-Century Photography
The editor of the Encyclopedia of 19th-Century Photography, to be published
in 2007 by Routledge, an imprint of
Taylor & Francis, are seeking contributing authors from a variety of
academic backgrounds, including the fine arts, social history, and the history
of technology. A three-volume reference of international scope, the encyclopedia
brings together information and the latest scholarship
on the art and science of photography up to
1900.
Edited by John Hannavy,
Emeritus Professor of Photography and Photographic History at the University of Bolton, the encyclopedia presents
650 main entries of 1,000 to 5,000 words on individuals, equipment and techniques, artistic movements and
criticism, development of the
commerce of photography, types
of photography,
and survey articles on the development
of photography
within individual countries. An appendix of brief entries on “minor and emerging
figures” is included.
