The S2 has fairly conventional sensor wells, but arranged in a diamond
pattern rather than a rectangular grid.  This gives them some benefit
on fill factor on the die.  Also, it gives them a benefit on vertical
and horizontal resolution at the expense of diagonal resolution --
this may be coincidental.
