Good advise
and if it does do it again see if you get an error code displayed on the top
or back panel, I had a problem, not the same as yours, but at first I
thought it was a problem with the card, after paying attention to the error
code and looking it up I had dirty lens contacts, not that this is related
to your problem just that the error code told me what was going on.

Hello,
I teach digital photography in a high school and I
have seen similar images occur on two cameras that
very soon bit the dust. At first I thought it was a
problem with the memory card, but reformatting the
cards did not solve the problem. I also cleaned the
contacts the card mate with inside the camera but that
did not help either. The problem began to occur more
frequently until I decided the camera itself was the
problem.
Run some more tests before you use that camera on a
paid assignment again.

I have never seen that before, I am wondering if you
have tried shooting
since that and if the camera did it again, also have
you tried taking photos
with it since to see if it did it again at about the
same number of
exposures, perhaps there is a flaw in the card.
Do you format the card each time you use it?
