Yes -- both of those are valid complaints, however an accessory hotshoe
PC sync terminal is about 20 bux (i am buying one next week -- after
payday) and I am also going to get a couple neutral density filters to
compensate for the High ISO -- probably a 1 stop and a 2 stop. I am
still trying to decide between screw on or drop in -- not sure which
way I will go yet -- Suggestions?

I am sure it IS a very good camera, just like the canon digital rebel.
I ended up with Canon 10D, partly also because of the lens collection I

But had you put the camera on manual focus assuming you are using SLR
digital cameras with manual settings as well as automatic you could have
gotten that shot with digital.
