Re: Bride vs Photographer

I think the one thing we have been missing is that this bride contracted (copyright issues aside) to have her wedding photographed, for a fee, and I am sure expected quality photographs, with out scratches and blemishes, heck she probably expected them to be in focus, go figure, now I understand that the problem with the photos was with the printer not the photographer, but then again the bride did not contract with the printer, my question would be why should she settle for damaged photos of her wedding, the photographer get paid in full, and the printer get away with a "Sorry and you have a nice day"? I had a similar experience at one time, in the end the printer gave free prints of the not "lost photos due to processing" I returned the money for that event in full, apologized profusely, made them aware of the free print offer and hoped they would understand, that was about 15 years ago, I am still in business, I have not been asked to do other photos for that family, but I have worked in that community.
At one time or another we as professionals have to step up and accept responsibility for unfortunate events, cut our losses and move on.
