Hi Russ, I teach photojournalism at San Jose State and have many students using both the Canon 10D and Nikon D70. For the money, students are pretty happy with their cameras as they seem to hold up well in the field. I try to stay away from the "tech-talk" that students can at times be fixated on. It seems that people can figure out ways to rationalize not being able to make meaningful images because of the camera they have. There is, of course, some truth in this idea, but it really comes down to commitment and passion. Professionally I have used both Canon and Nikon over the past 25 years and they have performed well. It seems that more pros are going with Canon these days mostly because of the lenses as well as support. At the same time, Nikon has not helped itself with the NEF formatting for RAW processing. That's been a problem for our students as our machines do not support Nikon's system. The point that I really want to stress is that the camera is a tool and it is in the heart and eye of the photographer that great images are made. I hope you may feel the same way. Dennis J.
