At present, the only thing I don't like about it is the keywording mechanism. One must keyword before dropping the files into Portfolio, or create a keyword list in their dialog. One cannot create keywords on the fly from within Portfolio and have them automatically entered into their list.
Seems monstrously lame design to me.
Also, Portfolio picks up keywords from various fields in File Info, but doesn't seem to get that words like "and", "'05" and "the" are not reasonable words to pick up.
under OS 9 Iomega created a crude databasing app that stored the names of all files on any medium, whether resident in the computer or remote. There is a version of that for OS X, but the great thing about FindIt was that it automatically did its survey whenever you ejected some medium, like a Zip or CD. The OSX version does not do that, so one must open the little databasing app and tell it to survey the CD that one is about to eject.
Apple, in my opinion, has passed on an opportunity to make life pleasant in this situation with its new search feature in Tiger, by again making it only store info about files on the computer.
So our software trains us......
