I'd like to hear from those who have this issue...how do you do it?

Lea - Mine are organized first by country or state and then by subject, but since most of your's are of your niece, that method wouldn't work. I also use keywords in FileInfo in PhotoShop CS. The keywords are saved with the photo file and searchable by the organizing software I use - Extensis Portfolio.
