Hi All,

In a perfect world we would have the best of both worlds in our quiver.
Film really does have a distinct look to it. Digital has several
advantages as well. Restating them makes no sense, but I think the real
issue will be the quality of the image. As always the image should
decide the method. If when you look into your camera bag you get to
choose the brush to paint with, all the better for us!!

I really love digital. It has been a godsend for my business. No more
LAB issues. But sometimes the image you creates calls for a different
look or technique. My 4x5 can be topped by digital but you have to spend
a boatload to match it in resolution and quality of image.

Further I think that both Emily and Bob are correct. For most commercial
purposes I really do think that digital will have 80% of the total
market.

Specialty films and cameras will still have a place within our palette.

I had an old student of mine call the other day; she is going to the
Middle East to photograph women's issues and wanted to know more about
certain cameras and their strength and reliability. She plans on taking
her fathers Hassy, two lenses, and two backs. She will also take a
moderate cost DSLR.

Take care,

Les Baldwin
